Known the world over as “KJL,” Kenneth Jay Lane was the undisputed king of American costume jewelry. From his early days designing shoes at Christian Dior to building one of the most celebrated jewelry empires of the 20th century, Kenneth had a singular gift: making every woman feel like royalty. His clients included Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, and Diana Vreeland — a testament to a man who understood that great jewelry isn’t about price, it’s about presence.
I had the extraordinary privilege of working alongside Kenneth Jay Lane himself at Gem-Craft in Providence, Rhode Island. And beyond that — I had the honor of representing his collection on The Shopping Channel in Canada, bringing his designs directly to collectors and devotees across the country. To stand behind his work, to speak to what made each piece extraordinary, was one of the great privileges of my career.
Kenneth passed away in 2017, but his legacy endures in every piece that bears his name: bold, glamorous, and utterly timeless.
